Colmobil, an importer of Mercedes to Israel, has begun marketing the EQA, the electric version of the current GLA.

This is a completely electric model second to the manufacturer after the arrival of the EQC, which is also based on its GLC gasoline-powered brother.

Its reliance on an existing gasoline model imposes on it a look similar to the relatively familiar model, but in this it is no different from the very conservative choice of the premium manufacturers to stick to the familiar and well-known in the first stage.

So did Mercedes, so did Lexus with the electric UX and so does BMW with the iX3 - innovation?

Not here, not right now.

When yes?

Well, wait for the EQS manufacturer's electric flagship to show off - that's where it keeps the dedicated platform and main show.

But until the EQS arrives (and it will happen very soon), the importer starts marketing the electric EQA.

Here, in the 250 version, which is the entry-level version and the only one currently in Israel, the GLA's gasoline engine is replaced by an electric propulsion unit.

It uses a single engine, which drives the front wheels.

The power is 188 hp (163 in the equivalent version of the GLA) and the torque figure is 38.2 kg (25.5 kg in the GLA).

With the addition of power, there is also extra weight but this is reflected in a negligible difference in performance, the acceleration to -100 km / h takes 8.9 seconds (8.7 in gasoline).

The maximum speed, like a number of other trams, is limited to 160 km / h.

A 66.5 kWh battery will propel the EQA in this version to a declared range of 414 km, with future dual-engine and propulsion versions also reaching about 500 km. Charging the battery from a level of 10 percent to 100 percent at a standard AC charging position Lasts about 6 hours, while a fast DC stand with 100 kilowatts will bring the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just half an

hour. The design changes are very slight and include besides the sealed grill also various lighting units, rims unique to this version and of course, no exhaust It is 5 cm longer and 446 cm longer and a single cm 162 cm - the other dimensions such as the width (184 cm) and the wheelbase (273 cm) remain unchanged. The trunk reduces volume to 320 liters.

The EQA comes in three trim levels, Electric being the entry level, Electric ART above it and Electric ART with the AMG decoration package being the most senior.

Already in the Electric trim level, the EQA offers a very nice level of equipment for the entry-level version, leather upholstery, LED lighting, 18-inch rims, a panoramic sunroof, electric seats, electric trunk opening, a dashboard and a 10.25-inch multimedia system and Android and Apple compatibility and more. .

The ART finish level adds, among other things, air conditioning ports to the second row, 360-degree cameras, wireless charging for mobile, a burmester audio system and more.

The AMG package includes 20-inch rims, exterior decorations, a sports steering wheel with napa leather and more.

The list of safety systems is complete and includes automatic braking with pedestrian and two-wheel detection, lane departure correction, adaptive cruise control, "dead zone" vehicle warning, including warning of opening a door when a vehicle arrives from behind, automatic braking in reverse and more.

The equipment list is generous even at the basic level, the safety systems are complete (Photo: manufacturer's website)

EQA prices start at NIS 300,000 for the Electric finish level (NIS 290,000 during the period). This is a price that is NIS 6,000 for the entry-level version of the GLA gasoline, although the EQA is equipped with it and to this must be added the lower maintenance costs of electric car.

Above it is the Electric ART finish level, which will cost NIS 340,000, and Electric ART with the AMG Line package is accompanied by a price tag of NIS 380,000.

And despite the not-so-low price per se, here's something we never thought we'd say about Mercedes: in the base version at least it is very attractively priced against its only relevant competitor right now the powerful and nimble Lexus UX300e, but with a range that is 100km shorter and costs 293,000 shekels.
