Samire L., indicted for the murder of his companion found buried under a concrete slab at his home, will not be released under

Former seasonal cook Samire L., 39, will remain in prison. Aurélie Vaquier's companion, found buried under a concrete slab at the couple's home, had requested the cancellation of his placement in pre-trial detention during a hearing held last Tuesday behind closed doors in front of the chamber of instruction from the Montpellier Court of Appeal (Hérault). He had appeared there, face tense and South Africa's football shirt on his shoulders, according to witnesses, persisting in an unchanging position since his placement in police custody: he said he had nothing to do with the death of the young woman, nor in the concealment of the body and maintains that someone could come to kill Aurélie and to cast it in cement at their place.

The decision to keep in detention is "logical in view of the charges against Aurélie Vaquier's companion," notes Me Jean-Charles Teissedre, one of the lawyers for the Vaquier family. We can expect other requests from him during the investigation ”. Samire L. was indicted for murder on April 11. Two days earlier, the body of the missing young woman had been discovered at their home in Bédarieux during a search using sophisticated means of the gendarmerie to probe the ground. "The indicted continues to deny en bloc and without qualification, while the facts seem established. It is now a question of determining what happened that day, if there was premeditation and complicity, ”continues the lawyer.

For those close to the young woman, heavy suspicions weigh on Samire.

He is accused of having taken a long time to alert the gendarmes.

He had indeed warned of the disappearance on February 23, 26 days after the young woman's alleged departure on January 28.

The relatives of Aurélie also suspect him of having hacked his Facebook account to send a message announcing that she was going green, a few words with spelling errors when the young woman did not.

Difficulties in financing their project

Samire had the little black notebook in which Aurélie recorded all the codes of her digital accounts. The last time before her disappearance, Aurélie had told one of her friends about her weariness to live in the permanent worksite to restore the vast premises that was to house the project she was setting up with Samire L.: to open a vegan restaurant. and a shop to sell the organic products of its confection.

The last week of January 2021, the radiant fall honeymoon, which began last summer, got bogged down in the rehabilitation site. “The local gave the feeling that things hadn't progressed much. On the project, they no longer seemed on the same wavelength but they looked good together, ”however explains a friend of Aurélie, who had lunched with his wife at the couple's in Bédarieux on Sunday January 15, ie 13 days before Aurélie disappeared. The duo then found themselves in difficulty in financing the operation. They lived on the indemnities of one of the Swiss unemployment funds after the loss of Samire L.'s job. The latter was waiting for the payment of his rights in one go, around 15,000 euros, to continue financing this project.

“A site confusion between cohabiting partners does not constitute a motive. The discovery of the victim's body in the accommodation does not automatically make Samire L. a murderer and the prosecution has still not communicated the autopsy report, ”argues Me Mathieu Montfort, the suspect's lawyer, who had seized the investigating chamber to request a placement under judicial supervision, far from Bédarieux.
