Who is Nicolás Kuroña, the young man who claims to have bought the Google Argentina domain

Nicolás Kuroña will never forget the night of Wednesday, April 21, 2021. The young man lived his moment of glory in social networks

after buying the Google Argentina domain on the internet

, which caused the search engine to be down for several hours.

"I want to clarify that I enter http://nic.ar, I saw the name of http://google.com.ar available and

I bought it legally, as appropriate

," Kuroña explained on his Twitter account.

Nic.ar is the administrator of the domain registry in the country, an office that depends on the Legal and Technical Secretariat of the Presidency of the Nation.

On Wednesday night, while the search engine's site was down throughout the country,

the URL google.com.ar appeared registered in the name of an unknown person: Nicolás David Kuroña

The name, of course, went viral and the memes that made fun of his "feat" multiplied on the networks

Faced with hundreds of questions he received on his Twitter account, the young man replied that he could buy the Google Argentina URL because

"the domain expired"

: those ending in .com.ar expire once a year and must be renewed so that they do not become vacant.

Nicolás even affirmed that he made the payment of the

VEP

, an operation that costs about 270 pesos.

Finally, after an hour of uncertainty, 

the domain suddenly reappeared as the property of the tech giant Google, Inc.

, expiring on June 8, 2021.

On Thursday morning, with the search engine working normally again, neither Google nor Nic.ar had given official explanations about what happened and

it was still unclear why the URL was in the name of Kuroña for a while

Spokesmen for the technology giant in the country sent a statement during the early morning in which they explained that

"the problem affecting access to google.com.ar has already been resolved

.

"

"We regret the inconvenience that this situation could have generated and

we continue investigating the causes,

" they added, 

without giving a convincing explanation.

The young man, meanwhile, explained that "they took away the domain", although he warned: "It is all legal. I have the purchase invoice, so I am calm."

Kuroña went from 30 to more than 7,000 followers on Twitter in a few hours.

According to public data that appear on his social media accounts,

Koruña is around 30 years old, from Berazategui, is in a relationship and has a 10-year-old son.

Until the end of last year, I worked at Datco Soluciones, a technology and telecommunications consultancy.

Very active on Twitter, his account went from 30 followers to more than 7,000 in a few hours after the incident.
