At 11:49 am, this Friday morning, the French astronaut will take off for the International Space Station for a six-month stay in the space

The essential

  • French astronaut Thomas Pesquet takes off this Friday morning at 11:49 am for the International Space Station (ISS).

This is his second mission to space.

The flight was originally scheduled for Thursday.

  • During his mission, Thomas Pesquet will carry out a hundred experiments and will become in the fall the first French to command the station.

But it is not really he who will lead the operations, as explained by the Belgian astronaut Frank De Winne, who was the first European to occupy these functions.

  • Two Americans and a Japanese accompany Thomas Pesquet on his journey to the ISS.

The Crew Dragon capsule will dock at the station shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday.
