In a surprising move, Sony back in it intends to close the PlayStation 3 and Vita digital stores, at least until further notice.

As you may recall, a few weeks ago the company announced that the online game stores of both the mentioned consoles and also of the PSP will close this coming summer, as the consoles themselves are no longer manufactured.

However, the fan protest did its thing, and the decision was changed, at least for the most part: the PlayStation and Vita stores will remain open, while the PSP store, which is really hard to believe anyone still buys games in, will indeed lock its doors forever on July 2nd.

Jim Ryan, the PlayStation boss, admitted that the initial decision was wrong, and promised that Sony's gaming division would continue to serve retro enthusiasts, alongside developing new projects for the PlayStation 5, 4 and the next generation of the PSVR.

If Fortnite can, then why not Apex Legends?

Electronic Arts has announced that a mobile version of the free Battle Royale game is in development.

The closed beta phase is expected to begin later this month, but will focus mainly on a few thousand players from India and the Philippines, and that too only for Android.

The full version of the game, which will probably be more abstract than the PC and console version (and also will not allow crossplay, of course), is due out towards the end of this year or early 2022. Apex Legends was launched about two years ago, as EA's attempt to compete with Fortnite and Pubg.

Although he did not have the commercial success of these two games, he was considered to be of better quality and his reviews were better.

Sauron won

Slowly but surely, Amazon is coming out of the gaming industry (not that it was some kind of superpower in the field in the first place).

The e-commerce giant has decided to cancel the Monty role-playing game that takes place in the world of "The Lord of the Rings", a project that was already announced in 2019.

The game was developed by Amazon in partnership with Chinese company Leyou Technologies, however something there apparently went wrong.

A laconic statement released by Amazon said that "the company has not guaranteed itself the conditions necessary to continue with the title for the time being, and is disappointed that we will not be able to provide it to consumers."

The future of two more games from Amazon, Policeman Crucible and the role-playing game New World, is also in the fog - their release dates are postponed time and time again and in general, something in its gaming venture does not seem to be working so well.

Either way, Bezos will likely survive the blow.
