There are those, passionate about the stars, who had ticked the date on their calendar.
Others who were surprised and marveled at the Super Moon.
On the night of Monday to Tuesday, the Sun, Earth and Moon were perfectly aligned at 5:31 a.m. KST.
An admirable spectacle from 8:13 p.m. to 7 a.m. this morning, time of sunrise and sunset.
It was then at one of its closest points to Earth.
The rest of its rotations around our planet can take it 50,000 km away.
But contrary to what some had announced, wrongly therefore, it was not tinted pink.
In fact, we call this Super Moon in reference to a flower.
According to NASA, the Maine Farmer's Almanac, created in the 1930s, began publishing the Native American names of the Moon.
The US space agency explains that the full moon in April is called the Pink Moon, in reference to the color of a flower common in the eastern United States, the moss phlox.
Either way, if you missed this show, you can catch a catch-up on May 26 for a Super Moon that should be just as captivating.
In the meantime, here is a (subjective) selection of the most beautiful shots taken last night by AFP and Reuters photographers.
