Here comes the new special limited edition Ferrari version based on the 812 Superfast: the 812 Competizione.

The online presentation to the specialized press, customers and fans from all over the world took place in an exceptional setting, the recently inaugurated new headquarters of the Prancing Horse GT Sports Activities department overlooking the Fiorano circuit.

During the event, the 812 Competizione A was also unveiled: the 'Targa' spider, also in a limited series: a tribute to the glorious tradition of the discoveries of the Prancing Horse.

The 812 Competizione and 812 Competizione A are equipped with the 6500 displacement V12 engine, derived from the award-winning 812 Superfast engine, which now reaches truly exceptional power: 830 hp at 9500 rpm, 30 hp more than the Superfast and which pushes it to over 340 km / h with acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.85 seconds and from 0 to 200 km / h in 7.5 seconds.

To achieve these results, the engineers from Maranello had to redesign and review numerous aspects of the 812, also making extensive use of carbon fiber both in the exterior and interior and which allowed a lightening of the car by as much as 38 kg.

The V12 has been redesigned in several areas: in particular, the fluid dynamics of its intake and combustion systems have been optimized and internal friction has been reduced. The maximum speed, now equal to 9500 rpm, gives together with the supply of ever-increasing torque a sensation of progressive and inexhaustible thrust, a result that starts from the redesign of key engine components including connecting rods, pistons, crankshaft and distribution system.

The titanium connecting rods reduce the weight by 40% compared to steel with the same mechanical resistance; the new pins coated in diamond-like carbon (DLC), on the other hand, reduce the coefficient of friction (and consequently wear) to the benefit of performance and consumption. These interventions are combined with a new balancing of the crankshaft, 3% lighter than the previous version. The most important improvements, however, concern the distribution and cylinder heads: the DLC-coated cams now operate the valves thanks to the sliding finger technology in steel and DLC, derived from the experience in F1 and developed specifically in order to have profiles of more performing lift.

The Ferrari 812 Competizione and the Ferrari 812 Competizione A are equipped with a renewed 7-speed gearbox and double clutch. The recalibration of the control strategies reduced the shift time by 5%; while maintaining the ratios of the 812 Superfast, the special versions presented today boast an even sportier gearbox thanks to the additional 500 rpm. guaranteed by the new V12.

Even the aerodynamics have been revised in search of greater load, with impacts on the whole car: from the new front conveyors to the diffuser and exhaust layout up to the unconventional rear window (patented) in which vortex generators are set. In particular, the front diffuser, as on the 812 Superfast, houses a passively operated mobile hatch that opens when the car exceeds 250 km / h. Its rotation determines a reduction of resistance that allows the car to express the maximum speed on the straight. The rear of the 812 Competizione, on the other hand, incorporates various innovative technical solutions concerning the exhaust layout, the geometry of the diffuser, the volume of the spoiler, the design of the patented rear window and the bumper. The rear diffuser, with its full width development,it guarantees maximum horizontal expansion to the underbody flow and marks a strong discontinuity with respect to the 812 Superfast. The entire braking system has also been revised which has allowed the engineers to redesign the front bottom with a significant increase in performance: the optimization of the air vents now provides + 30% of the front load, while the new vortex generator contributes for a further 40 %. Also noteworthy is the new version (7.0) of the renowned dynamic control system of the Side Slip Control vehicle with four steering wheels.braking system that allowed the engineers to redesign the front floor with a significant increase in performance: the optimization of the air vents now provides + 30% of the front load, while the new vortex generator contributes for a further 40%.     The Ferrari 812 Competizione will be produced in 999 specimens and will be sold in Italy at a price of 499 thousand euros while the Targa version will be produced in 549 specimens and will go on sale in Italy at 578 thousand euros. All planned production has already been sold and the first deliveries of the 812 Competizione will take place at the beginning of 2022, while for the 812 Competizione A in the fourth quarter of 2022.
