More than 600,000 vaccinations on Friday, a record
In mid-March, this Anglo-Swedish vaccine had been suspended in France and in most European countries as a precaution due to a number of serious thromboses.
Since then, the European Medicines Agency has reaffirmed that the benefit / risk ratio was good, but France, like other countries, reserves this vaccine for over 55s, cases of thrombosis having been detected in young patients.
The vaccine has since aroused some mistrust.
Friday in France, 17,492,988 people had received at least one injection (i.e. 26.1% of the total population) and 7,641,172 people received two injections (i.e. 11.4% of the total population) since the start of the vaccination campaign in France. 617,822 people were vaccinated on Friday, a record. Among them, 362,680 people received a first dose and 255,142 their second. The government's next objectives are to reach 20 million first-time vaccines in mid-May and then 30 million in mid-June.
