One month before the trial of this resounding case of the sale of sensitive information from police files on the Darknet, the court of

He was the last protagonist of this sensitive issue to be still placed in pre-trial detention. At 27 years old, Joël S. is the companion of "Haurus", this brigadier of the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) suspected of having illegally sold on the Darknet confidential data extracted from police files or from the judicial interception platform reserved for investigators. Indicted for "complicity" in various crimes, the young law student was returned as his spouse to the correctional court of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine): he would have benefited from the financial fallout from the secret trade of the police officer and the allegedly helped fabricate false documents.

The young man had been imprisoned for several months in a prison in the Paris region. But on Friday, the Versailles court of appeal ordered his release after an appeal by his lawyers who challenged the merits of this measure. Before issuing his order for dismissal, the examining magistrate had in fact decided to revoke the judicial control of Joël S. on the grounds that the latter had made an escapade to see "Haurus", with whom he is in a civil partnership, while 'he was forbidden to come into contact with him ...

The magistrates of the Court of Appeal also considered that this violation did not justify detention and granted the request for his advice.

“The court understood that our client had nothing to do in prison, greets his lawyer Me Dylan Slama, who represents him with Me Antoine Vey.

We are now focused on the audience that we will be able to prepare in calm conditions.

Our client is mainly criticized for having been Haurus' companion.

Six defendants with eclectic profiles

Joël S. will therefore appear free at his trial in June, as will the disgraced police officer. During the investigation, the 35-year-old official, who was assigned to a judicial division specializing in anti-terrorism, admitted to having "slipped", explaining that he had launched into the sale of information on the Darknet to deal with problems of over-indebtedness which undermined his married life.

According to a count of the investigators of the General Inspectorate of Internal Security (ISGI), "Haurus" - his pseudonym - issued 395 illegitimate searches in the police files: gray cards, criminal record, mega identity files ... He would have also resorted to judicial geolocation or "fadettes" (detailed telephone bills) 280 times, linking its requests to real anti-terrorism investigations. These activities on the underground side of the Internet would have brought him a few thousand euros between 2,017 and 2,018 before he was detected during the dismantling of the "BlackHand" platform, a vast black market where he was. possible to acquire drugs, false papers or information in a few clicks. The former investigator has now converted to the private sector and has published a book on telephone techniques.

In addition to the police officer and his spouse, four other defendants with eclectic profiles will be tried. They are all “clients” of “Haurus”: a man linked to organized crime in Marseille, a private detective from the Paris region and two Darknet counterfeiters.
