A shipwreck on the bottom of the North Sea off Norderney. In September last year, a team of wreck divers happened upon this sunken coastal freighter. This is a group of German divers who have specialized in the search for wrecks off the German coast under the name "Gezeitentaucher". At first they did not know what they had come across, but intensive research identified their discovery as the remains the "Ossian". The ship, built in Great Britain in 1892, was later in the service of German and Swedish owners. In May 1941, the "Ossian" was hit by British bombers - and sank. Three men died, 17 people were rescued. The freighter was loaded with 2498 tons of iron ore.For 80 years the wreck lay undetected on the bottom of the North Sea. It is not well preserved. But you can see a huge iron screw, steel masts, an anchor and an opening wheel. This summer the tide divers want to go to the wreck again.
