The girl's mother will in turn have to face Nordahl Lelandais during the Maëlys murder trial in 2022 in Grenoble.

The interventions in the media of Jennifer De Araujo, the mother of little Maëlys, killed in August 2017 after a wedding in Pont-de-Beauvoisin, in Isère, are as rare as they are filled with great emotion.

During an interview recorded and broadcast on Monday on BFMTV, the latter reacted to the conviction Tuesday evening of Nordahl Lelandais to 20 years in prison for the murder of Corporal Arthur Noyer - with a security sentence covering two thirds of the sentence and of an injunction of care for 10 years - while this former soldier is also suspected of having taken the life of Maëlys, when she was 8 years old.

"It was very difficult for me, the first days of the trial," said Jennifer De Araujo, who did not attend the proceedings but chose to follow them from a distance.

A complicated test indeed, while, like the parents of Arthur Noyer, she will in turn have to stand in front of the alleged murderer of her daughter, during the assize trial scheduled for next year in Grenoble and for which Nordahl Lelandais will incur this time a sentence of life imprisonment.

"He has, in my opinion, still not told the truth"

“It started on my birthday, so it was still reminding me of how my daughter hadn't been here with me for four years. The last birthday I did with her was in 2017, so it was very hard. It brewed me well these few days… ”, relates this mother of a family, about the hearing which has just ended and at the end of which the defense of the accused indicated that she would not appeal. of the decision.

She said she wanted "to see if he was going to tell the truth, how he defended himself in relation to the questions that were going to be asked", because "everything is controlled at his place, everything is calculated".

"I was disappointed by the behavior of my daughter's killer," adds Jennifer De Araujo, about this thirty-something who "knows what he's doing, because he has committed two murders on two occasions" and "wants to preserve oneself, protect oneself ”.

"He has, in my opinion, still not told the truth, well it is his truth to him, but she did not convince me", she also slices.

What does she think of her sentence to 20 years in prison, when the Advocate General had requested 30?

“For Maëlys, I hope he will be much more than 20 years old, answers the mother of the family.

It is my greatest wish and what I would like is that it is especially cumulative.

It is not normal that he commits two crimes and is punished only once, I think it is unfair.

"

Maëlys "has been kidnapped", proclaims her mother

She anticipates the trial for the murder of her daughter with a note for her alleged killer, who has been pleading for months for the scenario of involuntary death: "I would like him to answer for his actions and finally tell the truth." , how it really happened, what he did. "" I know it's going to be a tense, difficult, very trying moment, this mother also projects herself. I hope he gets the highest sentence he deserves and that his lawyer doesn't appeal. […] To relive another second trial would be another ordeal and I think we have already gone through enough ordeals so far, for four years. "

Jennifer De Araujo also returned to the evening of her daughter's disappearance, in August 2017, when the family were in a party hall, to celebrate a wedding.

Festivities which Nordahl Lelandais also attended.

“My conviction is that she did not get into the car by herself,” she explains.

She was kidnapped, she did not try to go see her dogs ”.

According to this bereaved mother, who describes her daughter as "shy and modest", Maëlys could never "have left with someone she does not know, it was not at all her temperament".

"I will fight for you until the end"

The sequence of events that she imagines to have taken place that fatal evening, she describes it with emotion: "I don't know how he forced her to go in his car, afterwards I think he must have assaulted her. sexually as he assaulted his little cousins a week before, but that he will never say, so as not to increase his prison sentence ”.

Today, a whole family is waiting for the former dog handler to answer once again for his actions in court. "He broke my life, he broke my family, my relationship, he broke everything", saddens Jennifer De Araujo, who slips that the situation for her other daughter, Coleen, is also "difficult". Then, she addresses Maëlys: "I hope that he will stay as long as possible in his prison, until the end of his life and you will remain in my heart forever, because we, if we took perpetuity, I also hope that he will take perpetuity ”. With these last words, for the missing girl: “I miss you, I will always miss you, I will always be there for you, I will fight for you until the end. "
