The girl Renna Butzer-Suissa from Gaza Village turns to TV presenter John Oliver after in the opening monologue of his show "This Week with John Oliver" he accused Israel of war crimes against the Palestinians and apartheid (Walla! NEWS)
Presenter and comedian John Oliver this week devoted the first minutes of his popular show "This Week with John Oliver" to harsh criticism of Israel, accusing Israel of war crimes against the Palestinians and apartheid. The girl Renna Butzer-Suissa, a 10-year-old from Kfar Aza, is now responding to his remarks, answering him with a touching and powerful monologue (watch above).
"Hello, Mr. John Oliver," she says.
"My name is Renee Butzer-Suissa, I live in the village of Gaza and I am ten years old. I heard what you said on your show, and I want to respond to things. Every siren makes me cry and feel sad. Just so you know, my army is strong, but it does not protect me from fear. I have been living in fear since I was born. I have been going to therapy since the age of six. Israel was established to protect the Jewish people, and we will not apologize for being a strong state. Our state does not attack what it wants, but the Hamas movement has been attacking where it wants for the last 20 years. "I just want it to end. I just want peace. And a normal childhood for me and for all the children in Gaza."

John Oliver calls Israeli activity in Gaza "war crime" and "apartheid"

In the opening monologue of his plan, Oliver referred to the ongoing crisis in Israel, Gaza and East Jerusalem. He described the chain of events, from Israel's intention to evacuate Arab families from Sheikh Jarrah in favor of Jews to missiles fired by Hamas at Israel. The presenter made it clear that a broad context is needed to understand the events and he does not intend to shorten the history or offer a solution, but added that even in this little there are some things that are simply wrong.
"One side has suffered 10 times more casualties, which indicates both the severe power imbalance here and that this fact is often obscured by the way we choose to talk about it," Oliver said in his program.
"Israel has an 'Iron Dome'. So it is not an equal sector. There is a massive imbalance in terms of weapons and capabilities of both sides. While most of the rockets fired at Israeli civilians this week were intercepted, this is not the case with Israeli airstrikes. They hit their targets, including a house. In a refugee camp, a Al-Jazeera news agency building, and a 13-story office and apartment building, and while Israel insisted there were military targets in that building and destroyed it as humanely as possible, and even warned people to evacuate it in advance, demolishing a civilian home seems like a war crime "It does not matter if you send an alert in advance."
