In the critical care services, which house the most seriously ill patients, there were 3,515 patients (against 3,544 the day before), including 73 recently admitted (115 the day before).

This figure had remained around 5,900 to 6,000 during the second half of April, the peak of the third wave, before falling sharply since early May.

Target 30 million first injections by mid-June

70 people have died of this disease in hospital (89 according to data published on Saturday), the total death toll exceeding 108,500 deaths since the start of the epidemic, early 2020. Regarding vaccination, 23,081,274 people have received a first injection since the start of the vaccination campaign, at the very end of December, and 9,706,333 two injections, according to the Directorate General of Health.

The government is targeting 30 million first injections by mid-June. After six months of closure and a winter marred by the murderous Covid, France has regained some of its leisure activities (terraces, cinema, opening of all stores), with the lifting of some of the restrictions.
