All while savoring driving pleasure, exclusivity and sporting performance. Yes. Because as Griffith himself said, "Thanks to Born's captivating sportiness, we want to make sure that the new generation of young people is ready to challenge the conventions that are part of this transformation."
And also anticipated that Cupra will use unconventional sales models to approach new customers and take the brand beyond traditional borders. The chairman of Seat and Cupra reiterated that "Born is a revolution in the electric car market and the impetus for the transformation of the brand. Thanks to an attractive design, immediate performance and a range of over 500 km in fully electric mode, Cupra Born will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions on a global level and will help to achieve the European objectives ".
When it arrives on the market in the autumn, Born will be available with two power levels 150 Hp and 204 Hp and with an e-Boost performance package (available from 2022) that brings the power output up to 231 Hp. Cupra Born - which is built on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform - offers high dynamism thanks to Adaptive Suspension Adjustment (DCC) combined with sports suspension, ESC Sport, progressive steering, increased brakes and tires wider mounted on 20-inch alloy wheels.
Cupra Born offers immediate performance, with acceleration always ready. The 231 hp version with e-Boost package sprints from 0 to 50 km / h in just 2.6 seconds and from 0 to 100 km / h in just 6.6 seconds. The permanent magnet synchronous motor reaches a maximum speed of over 16,000 rpm and is integrated above the rear axle. Torque is transferred through a single-speed gearbox with differential, which allows for even power delivery for immediate performance.
In the basic version, Cupra Born is equipped with a 45 kWh high-performance lithium-ion battery, which guarantees a range of approximately 340 km. The 204 hp variant instead has a 58 kWh battery and in this case the range rises to about 420 km. If the e-Boost package is present - which brings the power to 231 Hp - the 58 kWh battery can be replaced (as part of the Range package) with a 77 kWh which brings the autonomy of about 540 km.
With particular attention to the solutions that improve efficiency, such as the heat pump, Cupra Born with a 77 kWh battery is compatible with 125 kW DC rapid columns. In this case you can get enough charge to travel 100 km in just 7 minutes. Born also looks to the future from the point of view of the digital experience that uses the integration of the latest generation infotainment system with access to online services, with the ecosystem of downloadable applications, with the safety / assistance functions and with remote access.
