The Etna volcano erupted again in Sicily.
On Tuesday night, lava shot meters high from the crater of the mountain.
This was announced by the National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) on Twitter, among other things:
At more than 3300 meters, Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe.
On Tuesday morning, ash and thick smoke rose from the crater - up to 4,000 meters.
The INGV has recently registered increased activity on Mount Etna.
Stromboli is also active
The large volcano on the east side of Sicily is not the only mountain that is currently breathing fire: there are several volcanic islands in the northeast of the island.
Stromboli is on one of these islands.
This volcano erupted over the weekend.
The lava flows that emerged from the crater ran all the way to the coast.
