Twitch continues to grow, and there is space there for practically everyone today.
Users from all over the planet and with all kinds of tastes found their little corner on the live platform, and there are more and more new channels to follow.
The latest trend is quite a controversial one:
Hot Tub
.
These are streams of
young women in bikinis in a hot tub
.
That specific.
The category, for adults, has the hydromassage as its main protagonist (
hot tub
, in English, means precisely that). At first glance, there is nothing wrong. However, the controversy is not caused by the bathtubs, but by the content that is created from them, which
is very similar to OnlyFans.
After threatening to ban the category, Twitch decided to admit it under the name
Pools, Hot Tubs and Beaches
(Pools, hot tubs and beaches, in its English translation) and its content follows the same pattern: the creators (mostly women young people) stream from a bathtub or on the beach, but dressed in such a way that it has unleashed controversy among many other creators, as
some insist that it would touch the sexual and not suitable on the platform,
whose audience is mostly under 18 .
Ibai Llanos made fun of fashion.
Content creators such as
Ibai Llanos or TheGrefg
have already wanted to comment on what they think of this trend through their social networks, criticizing, once again, the
possible objectification of women
.
However, from Twitch they have wanted to support this type of content.
They have affirmed this in a statement, in which they insist that there are regulations that condemn sexual content, and that these types of videos do not violate those rules.
"While we have a regulation on suggestive sexual content,
being considered sexy by others is not against our rules,
" they say in the statement.
"Twitch will not take repressive measures against women, or against anyone, because of their perceived attractiveness," they add.
Amouranth, the most popular hot tub.
The statement also adds that, as long as it is justified and contextual, users can appear in a bathing suit during the broadcast of content, and that includes the beaches or hot tubs.
"We allow creative expression, such as writing and body painting, as long as the streamer behaves appropriately."
However, the controversy could have caused Twitch to rethink its regulations
, since they themselves confirm that they will proceed to update their policies on sexually suggestive content in the coming months.
At the moment, as a weapon to 'sanction' creators they have control and sanctions in matters of advertising on their channels, in case of non-compliance with regulations.
The Amouranth case
One of the most successful streamers on Hot Tub is American
Amouranth.
In fact, she is considered one of the pioneers in this practice. Although many influencers have followed his example after the numbers harvested, copying his technique of
bathing in a bikini in a canvas pool, with inflatable toys
, Twitch decided days ago to block the advertising of his channel.
"I was informed that
Twitch has indefinitely suspended advertising on my channel
. Twitch did not communicate this to me in any way. I had to start the conversation after noticing, without warning, that all ad revenue had disappeared," explained the young streamer , who in his live
plays food, drinks ice cream and puts cream
, among other suggestive actions.
"This is an alarming precedent and serves as a clear warning that while content may not violate community guidelines, Twitch has full discretion to target individual channels and partially or fully demonetize them," explained Amouranth.
The Twitch platform focused its attention on the Hot Tubs several months ago, as several streamers have relied on them to gain audience,
touching the platform's regulations and avoiding bans
.
