The nature of this dispute is not yet known, according to the prosecutor.
A 23-year-old man of Afghan origin died in the night from Saturday to Sunday during a brawl in the Sablons district of Le Mans, and two suspects were taken into custody, the prosecution announced on Sunday .
The victim would have died of stab wounds received shortly before midnight, according to the same source, which adds that an autopsy must take place on Monday.
Two other men, friends of the victim, were also injured in the brawl and taken to hospital.
"Their vital prognosis is however no longer engaged," said Le Mans prosecutor Delphine Dewailly in a press release.
"From the first elements of the investigation obtained, it results at this time that these three young men would have been the object of an attack on behalf of several other people arriving towards them armed with bars and knives".
The suspects arrested a few minutes after the facts
The two suspects, "also belonging to the Afghan community" and who bore traces of beatings, were arrested by the police a few minutes after the incident. Their police custody was extended on Sunday evening. The investigation for homicide and willful violence with a weapon in assembly is entrusted to the judicial police and the police station of Le Mans.
The magistrate further specifies that at the same time, an individual "with no apparent connection to these facts" forced the barrier to protect the crime scene while driving his vehicle. "This individual ended up stopping at the end of numerous summons, then left and continued on his way towards the police officers present", relates Delphine Dewailly. "He was arrested and had an alcohol level in his blood close to 2 grams". He must be referred to the prosecution on Monday, at the end of his police custody.
