Spain opens borders to vaccinated travelers
4.40 a.m.:
People vaccinated against the coronavirus "and their families" are welcome in Spain from today, regardless of their country of origin.
The government in Madrid announced this at the end of May.
Foreign cruise ships are also allowed to moor in Spanish ports again.
The country's tourism industry is relying on summer business after a month-long lockdown.
The government hopes to attract 45 million foreign visitors this year.
Spain is the second most popular travel destination in the world after France and, according to official figures, recorded 83.5 million foreign visitors in 2019.
Last year the number collapsed by 77 percent.
Vaccination prioritization falls: cities and municipalities fear frustration
03.31 a.m.:
According to German cities and municipalities, the lifting of the vaccination prioritization this Monday will lead to disillusionment among many people. "Disappointment and frustration are inevitable because there is not enough vaccine available immediately," said the chief executive of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, Gerd Landsberg, of the "Rheinische Post". In addition, timely appointments for first vaccinations are not always available.
German family doctors have also dampened expectations of the end of vaccination prioritization.
"After all, the vaccine is still too scarce for the high demand and is still being delivered too unreliably," said Ulrich Weigeldt, chairman of the German Association of General Practitioners, the newspapers of the Funke media group.
At the same time, with the lifting of the prioritization and the announcement of child and youth vaccinations, the demand will increase.
"But the setting will remain the same: We vaccinate as much as we can."
Those wishing to vaccinate can be vaccinated against Corona from Monday regardless of the previously valid list of priorities in Germany.
In Germany everyone over the age of twelve can now be vaccinated.
Investors remain loyal to Germany in the pandemic
02.49 a.m.:
Foreign investors are largely loyal to Germany despite the corona crisis and lockdowns.
The number of investment projects announced by foreign companies in Germany fell by a comparatively low four percent in 2020, as the consulting firm EY announced on Monday.
In France, however, the number collapsed by 18 percent, in Great Britain by twelve percent.
13 percent fewer investment projects were announced across Europe.
There was no such slump even during the 2009 financial crisis.
For this year, EY expects an increasing number of projects in Germany, as the willingness to invest is increasing in the industry and the automotive industry is currently doing well as the leading branch.
Munich closes three corona test stations
1:57 a.m.:
Three operators of corona test stations in Munich are initially no longer allowed to carry out rapid
tests
due to dubious processes.
This is reported by the »Süddeutsche Zeitung«.
Some citizens received a negative test result even though a smear was never taken.
Lately there have been more and more indications of maladministration in rapid test stations, as is now the case in Munich.
At the beginning of March, Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) had approved private test operators with a hastily decreed ordinance, without simultaneously ensuring controls.
