The Non-Profit Association, which includes economists and lawyers and works "for the protection of the public interest in the fields of economics and regulation," which has accompanied the legislative process over the past six months as part of discussions in the Knesset's Economics Committee, is fighting the Ministry of Transportation's new regulations.

As you may recall, the new regulations of the Ministry of Transportation, according to which anyone who drives a child up to the age of 4 will be required to install an alert system to prevent children from being forgotten in the car, continue to provoke public criticism.

For although the intentions behind the regulations are proper, correct and important, the resentment mainly pertains to how these regulations were conveyed and the high cost of the warning systems approved by the ministry so far.

The association's activity page lists the three goals intended to achieve the crowdfunding project: 1. Repeal the legislation, 2. If they fail to repeal the legislation they will work to reduce costs, 3. Requirement from the Ministry of Transport to present a detailed report with the effects of the legislation and proof of effectiveness ( Among other things, reference to the claim that the use of some of the devices worn on the safety seats impairs their efficiency.)

The initial activity will be carried out by a social lobbyist who will work in the coming months to achieve these goals.

In the next stage, if the regulations are not repealed, the association is preparing to take legal action in favor of another round of recruitment.

However, it should be noted that on the association's activity page as published at the time of writing, there are some inaccuracies regarding the price of the system, which does not stand at "at least NIS 500", there are significantly cheaper systems.

It also states that only 3 specific companies market systems, but already now six of the 17 systems that are being tested and approved by the firm are listed.

The target amount set by the association is NIS 40,000, with the target date for raising the amount being 30.6.2021.
