First the syringe, then into the elevator: In the corona pandemic, the Empire State Building in New York will also become a vaccination center.

For the time being from this Friday to Sunday, people in the famous skyscraper in the middle of Manhattan could be vaccinated, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Thursday.

The first 100 people vaccinated can then visit the skyscraper's viewing platforms free of charge.

Previously, numerous other famous institutions in New York State - such as the American Museum of Natural History - had become vaccination centers.

The government and companies have created numerous incentives for vaccinations, for example free donuts, french fries, underground tickets, tickets for museums and sporting events, a money lottery and the raffle of free study places for children and young people.

In New York State, for example, there has recently been another incentive for children and adolescents to be vaccinated: 50 free study places were raffled off among all 12 to 17-year-olds who have received at least one dose of vaccine and are registered by their parents.

Most recently, a citizen in Ohio also won a million US dollars as a reward for her corona vaccination, which is the equivalent of around 820,000 euros.

The goal is 70 percent on July 4th

More than 60 percent of adults in the state of New York with around 19 million inhabitants are already fully vaccinated, but the momentum of the vaccination campaign had recently waned.

This trend can be observed across the country.

In view of widespread vaccination skepticism, the pace of the vaccination campaign is slowing.

The government is now looking at younger people: The CDC recently announced that there are still many unvaccinated people in the 18-29 year olds and 30 and 39 year olds.

President Joe Biden had recently issued a new vaccination target: By Independence Day on July 4th, around 70 percent of all around 260 million adults should have received at least the first vaccination.
