Paris police break mass parties over corona violations

09.02 a.m.:

Because of violations of the corona rules, the police in Paris broke up mass parties of hundreds of young people at the weekend.

Hundreds of night owls celebrated outdoors on the lawn in front of the Hotel des Invalides in the city center on Friday evening and Saturday evening.

Many did not wear mouth and nose protection and disregarded the rules of distance.

The police stepped in on Saturday evening for violating the infection control rules.

The officers were "the target of projectiles," said the police prefecture on Twitter.

Three people were arrested.

When the curfew came into effect at 11 p.m., there were only small groups in the area.

According to participants, around 1,000 young people had previously celebrated there after being called on social networks.

"We graduated from high school this year and need to relax a bit," said a 17-year-old.

Study: The majority of young Europeans do not feel valued in a pandemic

5 a.m.:

According to a study, the vast majority of young Europeans do not feel valued in the pandemic.

More than three quarters (76 percent) found that their waiver during the pandemic would not be recognized by society, report the newspapers of the Funke Mediengruppe (Monday editions) with reference to the representative TUI youth study »Young Europe«, which will be presented next week should.

For the study, over 6,000 young people between the ages of 16 and 26 from Germany, Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Greece and Poland were surveyed in April 2021.

According to the survey, crises and conflicts in the boys' personal environment also increased.

An average of 57 percent of those questioned agreed with this statement.

On average in Europe, 38 percent of respondents also stated that they had to enforce distance and hygiene measures against resistance from parents and grandparents.

Germany and Poland are an exception - here, at 28 and 25 percent, respectively, it was significantly less.

As of today, Austria and other countries are no longer a corona risk area

Fine for

Bolsonaro

for violating Corona requirements in São Paulo

03.55 a.m.:

Because he took part in a motorcycle

parade

without mouth and nose protection, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has to pay just under 90 euros. The authorities in São Paulo imposed the sentence after Bolsonaro led thousands of participants in the parade “Let's step on the gas for Christ” on Saturday wearing a helmet without a visor. His son Eduardo and Infrastructure Minister Tarcisio Gomes also have to pay just under 90 euros each because, like Bolsonaro, they did not wear masks and did not adhere to the rules of distance at the subsequent rally.

The right-wing extremist president is accused of having promoted the rapid spread of the corona virus in the largest country in Latin America by playing down the pandemic.

He had described the Covid-19 disease caused by the coronavirus as a "minor flu" and criticized measures by Brazilian states and municipalities to contain the virus, also because of their effects on the economy.

Justice Minister Lambrecht calls for a review of the proportionality of the mask requirement

00.05 a.m.:

In view of the waning coronavirus pandemic, Federal Minister of Justice Christine Lambrecht calls on the federal states to review the continuation of the mask requirement. The states would have to clarify "whether and where a mask requirement is still proportionate if the incidence numbers are low and continue to fall," said the SPD politician of "Bild am Sonntag". "This also applies to schools, because pupils are particularly affected by the mask requirement."

Bundestag Vice President Wolfgang Kubicki (FDP) called for a complete end to the mask requirement. »If the incidence is clearly below 35, the state may not restrict any basic rights for all citizens across the board. The general mask requirement would therefore have to be lifted with a strict interpretation of the Infection Protection Act, especially outside, "said Kubicki of the newspaper. The state governments must now change their ordinances quickly, otherwise they will soon be forced by the administrative courts. The state should rather set up an information campaign that explains how people in subways and crowds can protect themselves with masks, demanded Kubicki.

According to the decision of the Prime Minister's Conference in January, so-called surgical masks or FFP2 masks should be worn on public transport and when shopping.

The federal states are responsible for implementing the rule;

further regulations may apply regionally.
