Fine for
Bolsonaro
for violating Corona requirements in São Paulo
03.55 a.m.:
Because he took part in a motorcycle
parade
without mouth and nose protection, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has to pay just under 90 euros. The authorities in São Paulo imposed the sentence after Bolsonaro led thousands of participants in the parade “Let's step on the gas for Christ” on Saturday wearing a helmet without a visor. His son Eduardo and Infrastructure Minister Tarcisio Gomes also have to pay just under 90 euros each because, like Bolsonaro, they did not wear masks and did not adhere to the rules of distance at the subsequent rally.
The right-wing extremist president is accused of having promoted the rapid spread of the corona virus in the largest country in Latin America by playing down the pandemic.
He had described the Covid-19 disease caused by the coronavirus as a "minor flu" and criticized measures by Brazilian states and municipalities to contain the virus, also because of their effects on the economy.
Justice Minister Lambrecht calls for a review of the proportionality of the mask requirement
00.05 a.m.:
In view of the waning coronavirus pandemic, Federal Minister of Justice Christine Lambrecht calls on the federal states to review the continuation of the mask requirement. The states would have to clarify "whether and where a mask requirement is still proportionate if the incidence numbers are low and continue to fall," said the SPD politician of "Bild am Sonntag". "This also applies to schools, because pupils are particularly affected by the mask requirement."
Bundestag Vice President Wolfgang Kubicki (FDP) called for a complete end to the mask requirement. »If the incidence is clearly below 35, the state may not restrict any basic rights for all citizens across the board. The general mask requirement would therefore have to be lifted with a strict interpretation of the Infection Protection Act, especially outside, "said Kubicki of the newspaper. The state governments must now change their ordinances quickly, otherwise they will soon be forced by the administrative courts. The state should rather set up an information campaign that explains how people in subways and crowds can protect themselves with masks, demanded Kubicki.
According to the decision of the Prime Minister's Conference in January, so-called surgical masks or FFP2 masks should be worn on public transport and when shopping.
The federal states are responsible for implementing the rule;
further regulations may apply regionally.
