The night put to research.
A 35-year-old man has been missing since 4 p.m. this Monday on Lake Montbel, an artificial lake straddling Ariège and Aude, reports France Bleu Occitanie.
The man allegedly fell from his kayak about 150 meters from the banks while he was present at the site with relatives.
At this point, the lake is eight meters deep, according to La Dépêche.
The water was of average temperature, says the regional daily.
Research will resume on Tuesday morning
A major rescue system was put in place in the middle of the afternoon to find the kayaker.
The firefighters quickly intervened and among the rescuers, seven divers and a dog from the canine brigade went in search of this thirty-something.
But the emergency services had to stop their operation because of the night.
The gendarmerie announced that it will resume the search at dawn on Tuesday.
