The west of the USA is suffering from a massive heat wave with record temperatures of sometimes over 50 degrees Celsius.
The authorities issued a heat warning for almost 50 million citizens.
The temperatures in the affected region are around ten degrees Celsius above the seasonal average.
Due to the drought, the water level of lakes and rivers is low, and there is also a lack of water for agriculture.
Here droughts have cost the state billions of dollars in recent years and have resulted in the loss of thousands of seasonal jobs.
Jeffrey Kightlinger, Director of the Southern California Water Board,
“You 're going to
see some farming implications in the Central Valley.
You will see that farmers cannot plan and make decisions, that land is fallow.
You'll see these episodes all over the Central Valley. "
The Hoover Dam, the largest reservoir in the United States, has also sunk to a record low.
The edges on the rocks make the extent clear.
There has been extreme drought here in the southwestern United States for weeks.
