The two men accused of having killed the young Adrien Perez in 2018, for a futile reason at the exit of a nightclub in Isère, are judged

“Save our children!

“On August 3, 2018, Patricia Perez, launched a heartbreaking appeal in the Parisian-Today in France.

Four days earlier, her son, Adrien, 26, had been killed by several stab wounds, including one in the heart, in front of a nightclub in Meylan (Isère) in the suburbs of Grenoble.

He had wanted to defend a friend, Mathieu, attacked by several individuals for a futile reason (a clash about a young woman belonging to Adrien's group).

Mathieu had been seriously injured.

The trial of the two suspected murderers of the young man opens this Monday, June 21 before the Assize Court of Isère in Grenoble.

Two brothers, Yanis and Younès El Habib, aged 22 and 23 respectively, risk thirty years in prison.

A third man, Liam Djadouri, 23, will have to answer for "aggravated violence".

The trial is scheduled to last two weeks.

In 2018, this drama that took place in the heart of summer made the headlines in France, becoming the symbol of this gratuitous violence which takes the lives of young people with a future.

“I cry out my revolt.

That's enough.

Stop!

It must stop.

I appeal to all politicians, from all sides.

Do something.

Our country is sinking into violence.

We have to stop it, ”Patricia Perez begged.

Three years later, for her and her husband, Bruno Perez, nothing has changed.

How do you approach this trial in which you will face the alleged murderers of your son?

PATRICIA PEREZ.

(Tears in my eyes)

It will be a test. We go there with great apprehension but trusting justice. The loss of Adrien is still present. And still so painful. My son no longer goes through the door of the house. And our life is confined to going back and forth between the cemetery, our home and work. Adrien, it was my angel, my baby. My son was a good boy. He made some beautiful and brilliant studies. He had obtained a license in the energy and thermal field. He worked in a Lyon company. He was loved by all my Adrien. He was a good man. He loved life, he loved people. He loved to travel, to enjoy life. He was still happy, smiling, with his mischievous blue gaze. I no longer hear him say "mom" to me. I no longer have Adrien's mother's day,no more Adrien's birthday. What am I missing. What is missing from his sister Marjorie. It has been a daily survival for three years now.

BRUNO PEREZ.

Every day you try to look good in front of the people you meet, by not showing your pain.

But deep inside you are destroyed.

I hope that justice will pronounce an exemplary sentence and that this trial will make people react.

Adrien Perez, 26, had been killed by several stab wounds, including one in the heart, in front of a nightclub in Meylan (Isère).

DR

Adrien died because he intervened to defend a friend who was attacked at the exit of the disco?

PATRICIA PEREZ.

Adrien acted like any human being who sees his friend on the ground.

When you see your friend knocked out, down, you can't help but react.

In this country, fear has changed sides.

It is the ordinary citizen who is afraid.

The aggressors are not afraid of anything.

And that is not normal.

Do you think his death is a huge mess?

PATRICIA PEREZ.

Adrien died for nothing. He had spent a good afternoon with us. And he left with his friends to celebrate his 26th birthday. He said goodbye to us, and we didn't see him alive again. It is the trial of gratuitous violence. Unfortunately, since Adrien's death, it hasn't stopped. When we see the news, every day there are tragedies in our country. It's a disaster. Three years ago, we wrote to Emmanuel Macron to denounce this violence. But since the death of Adrien, it continues. And it is even getting worse, day by day. We get the impression that the public authorities are doing nothing. We do not want to hear the voice of the victims. We are more concerned with the conditions of incarceration of detainees. I don't expect anything from this trial. We will try to be strong. It is still a test within a test. We cannot escape it.

BRUNO PEREZ.

We tried to alert the authorities to this violence.

We spoke in the media.

But in three years, nothing has happened.

And it's even worse like my wife says.

We tackle everything and everyone.

For anything.

For a simple glance, for words on social networks.

There is necessarily an education problem.

Miners kill without the slightest regret.

It's a disaster.

We cannot live like this and continue to kill each other for nothing.

For you, Adrien's attackers intended to kill?

PATRICIA PEREZ.

My son was stabbed in the heart. He had no chance of getting out of it. Any. It's good that these people intended to kill. The facts are there. There is a video of the assault that will be shown at the trial. And we see what happened. And then why walk around with knives in your pockets.

BRUNO PEREZ.

(Sobs in voice)

That night, if it weren't for knives, we wouldn't be here.

There would have been only punches.

There would have been a winner and a loser.

But now our life is ruined.

Our son, we won't see him again.

Even though they are in prison, they still have visitors and above all, they have life, light.

Me, my son, he has no more light.

He is at the bottom of a hole.

And it's not normal to see your son so young in a hole.

There will never be mourning for me.

I don't want anything anymore.

This trial will not change things.

It won't bring my son back.

In this trial, you will face, for the memory of Adrien?

PATRICIA PEREZ.

I think he will be with us. Because Adrien is in our heart, in our mind. Everyday. I will try to be courageous for him. To live up to what he was.
