Fewer than 9,000 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized in France on Sunday June 27, for the first time in more than eight months, according to official figures.

As for vaccination, almost half of the French population (49.5%, 33,372,708 people) has received at least one injection and nearly a third (31.6%, or 21,278,460 people) is completely vaccinated (either with two doses or with just one for those who had already had the Covid or received the Janssen vaccine).
On Sunday, 8,986 Covid patients were hospitalized, against 9,024 the day before and around 31,000 two months earlier, in mid-April, at the peak of the third wave. This figure had not dropped below the 9,000 mark since October 13. Among these patients hospitalized, 1345 are in the critical care services, reserved for the most seriously ill patients, against 6000 two months previously. Again, we have to go back to October 4 to find such a low total. Hospital services recorded 42 Covid patient admissions in 24 hours, and 13 critical care admissions. 17 patients have died from Covid in hospital since the day before.
In recent days, the government and health authorities have insisted on the importance of being fully vaccinated to block the Delta variant of the coronavirus, which is more transmissible than other strains.
