He remains behind bars for the moment.

The Nancy Court of Appeal on Thursday rejected the appeal of Rémy Daillet, a figure in conspiracy circles suspected of being involved in the kidnapping of little Mia in April in the Vosges, who denounced her placement in pre-trial detention.

"The chamber (of instruction, Editor's note) confirms the order of placement in provisional detention issued by the judge of freedoms and detention of Nancy to avoid reiteration of the facts, avoid fraudulent consultations and preserve public order" , said the president of the chamber Martine Escolano in her deliberation.

Rémy Daillet, 54, was indicted in mid-June in particular for complicity in the kidnapping of a 15-year-old minor in an organized gang and criminal association with a view to committing the crime of kidnapping a 15-year-old minor in a gang organized.

"For me there was no kidnapping, there was restitution of child", hammered Rémy Daillet during the hearing, adding that he would face "his fate" and that 'was "out of the question to flee."

"The risk of renewal exists"

According to his lawyer Me Jean-Christophe Basson-Larbi, his client will not leave France if he is placed under judicial control since he is "a declared candidate for the presidential election".

The council instead proposed an electronic bracelet placement.

“We know that Mr. Daillet enjoys authority and influence over several indicted.

There is a risk of fraudulent consultation (…) and the risk of renewal exists ”, underlined the Advocate General who requested confirmation of the placement in pre-trial detention.

Rémy Daillet, his partner and their three children, present at the hearing, were arrested at the end of May on the Malaysian tourist island of Langkawi where they were staying.

They were deported by Malaysia because their visas had expired.

Former MoDem executive from which he was excluded in 2010, Rémy Daillet was the subject of an international arrest warrant as part of the investigation into the kidnapping of Mia, 8, on April 13 in the Vosges.

The girl was staying with her grandmother when she had been kidnapped by several men, at the request of the mother of the child who no longer had custody and was no longer allowed to see her alone. The child and his mother were found five days later in a squat in Switzerland, safe and sound. In this case, eleven people were indicted: eight are detained and three are under judicial supervision.
