The Italian space, with its businesses and research, will be among the protagonists of Expo 2020 Dubai: the agreement was signed today for the participation of Avio, the Italian company that makes the European launcher Vega, at the next Dubai Expo .

The agreement was presented in the Colleferro (RM) plants by Paolo Glisenti, Commissioner for Italy's Participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, and Giulio Ranzo, Avio CEO.

"The Dubai Expo will be a great opportunity to tell what Italian space is doing and what it can do again", said Giorgio Saccoccia, president of the Italian Space Agency (ASI), host of the presentation. "It will be an opportunity - he added - to demonstrate what some of our large companies like Avio and Leonardo do, but also the many very interesting start-ups gathered in aerospace districts and regions such as Lazio, Puglia, Piedmont, Campania and Basilicata".

From 17 to 23 October the large Italian pavilion that will represent our country within Expo Dubai will be entirely dedicated to the world of space with numerous initiatives and special events where many universities and research centers will also be present. "But the presence of space will also be transversal, throughout the Expo", explained Glisenti.

"Because or space - he specified - will be more and more present in our lives, we will then talk about space in many areas, from medicine to tourism. Add to this that at an economic level, space is a sector in enormous growth and will be one of the drivers of the post-pandemic recovery ".

Dubai will be the first universal exhibition in an Arab country, countries that are investing heavily in space, as demonstrated by the recent mission to Mars: "Italy is one of only 6 countries in the world capable of bringing objects into space," it seemed natural for us to showcase our skills at Expo Dubai, "added Ranzo.
