Ille-et-Vilaine: a worker dies crushed between two concrete blocks

A 36-year-old worker died on a construction site in La Chapelle-des-Fougeretz, near Rennes. He got stuck between two concrete blocks.


It was a dramatic work accident that claimed the life of a 36-year-old worker this Wednesday morning in the town of La Chapelle-des-Fougeretz located north of Rennes.

At 7:35 am the firefighters were called to rescue a man who was working on a rehabilitation site in the Haut Danté artisanal zone, France Bleu revealed.

The firefighters tried to revive him in vain

On their arrival, the Beauregard firefighters discovered that the victim was wedged between two concrete blocks and a wall, an element used to form reinforced concrete walls.

They had to use a specific device to lift loads and manage to free it.

Despite their best efforts, they failed to revive him.

The worker died on the spot.

An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

The labor inspection services also went to the site to make the first findings.
