Following an altercation shortly after midnight in a street in downtown Cholet (Maine-et-Loire), a 34-year-old man was shot dead.
Upon his arrival, the medical unit declared him dead.
According to the Angers prosecutor's office, a suspect was taken into custody but two other people, suspected of being the source of the shots, are on the run.
The facts occurred "within the framework of an altercation", specified the prosecutor of Angers, Éric Bouillard.
The magistrate specified that the victim, of Martinican origin, “was in a party in which there was an altercation.
Then the victim would have left the party.
While he was at the main square of Cholet, a car, with several people on board, came to his level.
Shots were fired behind his back.
One of the men in the car was arrested and taken into custody.
The judicial police, who were seized of the investigation, are looking for the other people who were present with him in the car as well as witnesses who could help him.
