The Ingenuity drone has completed its tenth flight to Mars, the most articulated one that has taken it higher than ever, up to 12 meters high, to fly over an area of great interest called 'Raised Ridges'.
Thanks to this umpteenth success, the aircraft has already traveled more than a kilometer and a half on the Red Planet, starting from its first flight field named after the Wright brothers.
This was communicated by the control center of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Jpl) of NASA.
The tenth flight, which took place on Sunday, required Ingenuity to immediately rise to 12 meters high to move about 50 meters south-southwest and take a first image of Raised Ridges. Subsequently he would have had to move sideways towards a third intermediate stage to take another image: the JPL technicians would like to combine it with the first to obtain a stereoscopic image. The same will be attempted with the images that the drone should have taken by pushing west in stages 4-5 and then again northwest in stages 6-7 and 8-9. After turning northeast, the drone had to reach the landing site which is northeast of the departure site, approximately 95 meters away. The total expected flight time was approximately 165 seconds.
