With EQS, Mercedes brings the maximum expression of its idea of the future mobility car to its market debut.

An excellence in terms of elegance, comfort, efficiency and silence that make it an absolute best in class in its category.

The electric flagship of the Stella, the car that inaugurates the new flexible EVA architecture (on which the EQE and the SUV versions of both models will also be built), embodies the manifesto of the Ambition 2039 strategy, which aims to offer less than 20 years of a fleet of new "carbon neutral" cars that have recently been updated with a new target: to supply, by 2025, a full electric version for each model in the range.

Thanks to the work of the aerodynamics experts it was possible to achieve a new record value of Cx2, equal to 0.20.

EQS is therefore the most aerodynamic production car in the world. Above all, autonomy takes advantage of this, but also in terms of acoustic comfort, EQS is among the best, with the substantial contribution of an extremely low aerodynamic noise.

Initially available in two versions (prices have not yet been disclosed) EQS 450+ with 333 HP and 568 Nm, with rear engine and 90 kWh battery, and EQS 580 4Matic with 524 HP and 855 Nm, with dual engine and 107.8 kWh battery, Stella's new luxury car will hit the market in the fall.

Within the next year, the 'berlinona' that winks at the crossover bodywork (having a more raised stance than the S since the accumulators are positioned in the lower part of the chassis), will also arrive in a 761hp AMG sports variant that could be previewed at the next IAA in Munich while for 2022 the version with autonomous driving level 3 (Drive Pilot) will be available, which is being tested in Immendingen at the new Mercedes test center.

5.21 meters long and 1.93 meters wide, the EQS boasts a record range of up to 780 kilometers (according to the WLTP cycle) and a power of up to 385 kW. With EQS, a new generation of batteries is launched in the starting blocks, in fact it has a much higher energy density. Developed in-house, the innovative battery management software allows for "over the air" (OTA) updates. In this way, energy management is always updated throughout its life cycle.

Record numbers also concern the impressive acceleration which, for the most performing model, the EQS 580 4Matic, is 4.3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km / h (the top speed is 210 km / h).

EQS is recharged in direct current at fast charging stations up to 200 kW: it takes 15 minutes to have the power needed for another 300 kilometers (WLTP).

But the real novelty concerns the passenger compartment: silence, comfort and quality materials are skilfully combined with top technology that finds its maximum expression in the MBUX Hyperscreen. This large arched display covers almost the entire surface between the two A-pillars and consists of three screens which, being arranged under a single cover glass, are visually perceived as a single screen. The 12.3-inch OLED display constitutes the display and control area dedicated to the front passenger.

Thanks to the software with learning capabilities (OTA updates), MBUX fully adapts to the user and provides him with personalized suggestions for numerous functions related to Infotainment, comfort and the car. With the so-called zero layer or zero layer, the most important applications are always offered in the higher end of the field of view, depending on the situation and context.

On board is also available the Energizing Air Control Plus, with which the issue of air quality on board is addressed through a holistic approach. The system is based on the parameters: filtration, sensors, visualization and air treatment. The Hepa (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter retains fine dust, microparticles, pollen and other substances contained in the incoming external air with a very high level of filtration. In addition, the activated carbon layer reduces nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides and odors.
