Roni Daniel would not have liked it, but the coverage of his death was one of the beautiful moments of News 12
Everyone agreed that if Daniel had seen the emotional broadcast hours devoted to talking about his death, he would have been screaming at everyone to get back to real work.

And for the avoidance of doubt, this is true.
The broadcasts were out of all proportion but some Arabs were allowed to deviate from the conservative rules.

Yesterday's big headline was not about the very sad and sad death of Roni Daniel. Today's real headline was: "You did not really know Roni Daniel." In the sea of eulogies, Amit Segal - probably the sharpest writer on News 12 - stood out with his great talent - that even before the virtual ink on the pushes that informed us all about Daniel's death had dried up, he had already shone in a highly worded eulogy column. Who knew you could be moved to tears by a columnist from a faculty member? In retrospect it turned out that it was just developed.
The moving story of Yair Shrek who went viral about the time the mythical military reporter came to his brother's company to get him cigarettes, the heartbreaking monologue of Rina Matzliach, Adva Dadon who managed to shiver in just one word, the tears of the Marciano Foundation, Danny Kushmero's article, the opening of the woolen edition of Yonit Levy - and above all Barhanu Tagania.
The same Barhanu who always tells us the saddest and most tragic stories with a cold face burst into tears when he told about his friend, his mentor.
All the people we know with the professional poker face were suddenly choked with tears, including the toughest military reporters.
Those who are not excited about explosions, who do not run away from alarms.
They have never looked more human.

A senior representative of a generation that does not know what "click bait" is or how to add a link in bio, but does know how to make a journalistic story accessible to people, simply because he knew how to be a man himself.
A man who knows how to bring dry facts, and does not forget to wet them with his authentic emotion.
He annoyed the right and the left equally.
He became an ultra-patriot in wartime, and was the military's greatest critic in peacetime.
He was nobody's mouthpiece.

Even after decades on Channel 2, Ronny Daniel did not become "Mr. TV," simply because he insisted on continuing to be a journalist. One who lives the area, knows the names of the dogs of each brigadier general, and on what novice base has the cleanest toilets at any given moment. His basic and self-beliefs. Almost ironically, his death finally removed the mask from the face of the main edition of News 12. This is a great television, often made at the expense of the press.

The competition, like the cynicism, was forgotten for one day.
The coverage of the tragic death of a journalist, senior as he may be, has never received such a response.
It was excellent television, about a rare journalistic fall, and it was done with professionalism and very high self-awareness.
Now they have to decide whether it was a one-time evening, or maybe the death of Roni Daniel would also symbolize the end of an era.
Roni will not be there to shout at them: "Well, okay, we heard from you."
