A police officer was injured Tuesday evening in Bayonne (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) during an intervention to arrest a man who was trying to flee after "a violent dispute" reported at home.
As two police officers attempted to apprehend him, the man behind the wheel of a car drove off, hitting one of the police officers.
The latter used their weapons during this intervention under conditions which were not specified.
The injured policeman was hospitalized.
He suffers from multiple bruises and bruises but his life is not in danger.
The fugitive, reached during the operation, was also admitted to the hospital, according to the police.
The 33-year-old man is said to be a repeat offender, convicted of domestic violence.
The companion of the madman was also taken away by the police to be heard, reports France Bleu.
The Bayonne public prosecutor's office referred to "acts of attempted homicide on a person holding public authority which took place last night in Bayonne and motivated the use of their service weapon by police officers".
