An ULM (ultralight motorized plane) taking off from an aerodrome located between Comberjon and Frotey-lès-Vesoul (Haute-Saône) crashed on Friday around 10 a.m.

Its two occupants, a 33-year-old ULM instructor and his 66-year-old student, are deceased.

The two victims were from the agglomeration of Vesoul.

"There are no witnesses to the circumstances of the air crash," said Michel Robquin, the secretary general of the Haute-Saône prefecture. "A security perimeter has been established, risks of explosion remain," he added. Agents of the Basel Mulhouse air transport gendarmerie brigade were expected at the scene. About twenty firefighters were mobilized.

According to France Bleu Besançon, the instructor and his student performed “stop-and-go”, landing and take-off exercises. A photo taken after the crash shows the aircraft at the end of the runway, with the nose of the aircraft planted in the grass. A security perimeter has been set up by firefighters, gendarmes and the Haute-Saône prefecture, because of the risk of explosion. The circumstances of the accident strongly resemble those of another fatal microlight accident which took place in 2019 at Chavenay aerodrome (Yvelines).
