Benny Zipper is obvious, but it's especially worthwhile to meet the mesanthropic couple Guy the hitchhiker and the tired myrtle

Promo "Come Eat With Me" Season 5 (Here 11)

Long before the number 11 on the sign changed packaging and homeowners and won every possible compliment on the original content broadcast on it, “Come Eat With Me” was already a cult hit. "You do not see 'Come eat with me'?", Is a question that was often heard among TV addicts that always ended with a recommendation: "Yes, it's on Channel 11 but it's a must. Complete episodes and then talk." Happily the corporation people quickly realized what a Michelin star is hiding in their hands, and in the last three years “Come Eat With Me” has already won two new seasons in a controversial (but still fun) couples format. Now, after a break that felt to addicts (and I among them) like an eternity and a half, it's back in season five, and this time in the old and excellent singles format (Sunday to Wednesday here 11).

To get out of hand you have to talk about the "big twist" of the season - this time all the cooks in the program prepare kosher meals.

What it means?

Instead of chive sauce on lamb chops, you will get all kinds of versions of soy cream, cashew cheeses and various substitutes.

If in previous seasons we won kosher kitchen specials that brought with them to the program also contestants from the religious sector - remember well the couple of religious men from the previous season who prepared glat-food but still did not get down to contestants in the throat - this season each episode can also host Torah and mitzvot.

In practice, “Come Eat With Me” has always been a show about people rather than food, so as long as the casting is wonderful, the recipes can be a combination of gravel and rabbit sawdust and we still enjoy.

Casting school. This is what came to my mind after watching the first episodes of the season (journalists were sent four episodes from two different groups of contestants). Reality casting is an art, and if there is one thing that "Come Eat With Me" has always excelled at, it is casting contestants. This is also the place to mention the name of the person responsible for this - casting editor Anat Reshef. While other shows are recycling the same contestants over and over again (if Adele Beslov finds herself here too I will stop watching in protest) the casting cast of "Let's Eat With Me" seems to have the superpower that helps them bring new, funny, different faces to the screen. Refreshing and very witty. A well-known secret is that some of the most powerful reality characters in Israel were first discovered in "Come Eat With Me": from Itzik Crescenti, through Odelia Suissa and the Hazan family for generations, they all started here.

The first week of the season opens with a beautiful mosaic of contestants who as usual were put together for the most logical reason: they will get on each other’s nerves.

Alongside the gay deer that came out of the closet in his forties and today contains more than papers from an entire Broadway show, is Benny Zipper, editor of the literature and poetry section of Haaretz and a man with an ambivalent attitude to his sexuality (which we will get to later).

The group also includes Yaron, who belongs to the "Flying Spaghetti Monster Church" stream, which is a lot of words for "trolls who enjoy seeing other people lose it", Liat who is a former ultra-Orthodox mother of 12 children, and Gili the kibbutznik who loves to gossip and I love her.

Even without the wonderful narration as always of Shai Avivi and the hysterical script of Dikla Kedar, only the encounter between these people, who are different from each other in every nook and cranny, is something that is impossible to take your eyes off (and should not). The highlight of this week - and yes, it's a spoiler - is the moment when Benny Zipper can no longer bear the stories of coming out of Eyal's closet and decides to confess.

The story of Zipper, a well-known and declared provocateur, includes his understanding that he may be physically attracted to men, but there is no chance in the world that he will live with "a man who throws socks on the floor" (Zipper has been married to a woman for many years and is a father of three). The other contestants (besides Liat) understand the subtext of the story well, and there is silence in the room that can be cut with a ruffled butter knife. And Eyal? He generally rejoices. By the way, as a gay I must point out that I have never encountered such a gay reason without wanting to live as a gay (after all, in "Seinfeld" Eileen mentioned that she thought Jerry Gay because he is very clean and tidy).

A masterpiece of mesanthropy, sarcasm and arrogance. Hadas and Guy, "Come Eat With Me" Season 5 (Photo: here 11)

It seems that Zipper's "coming out of the closet" week has only opened for a big season, the second group of contestants does not fall for anything from the first, and includes Oshrit who works against "infiltrators" in south Tel Aviv and Casey, a daughter of migrant Filipinos born in Israel (the affection between them can explain Only YSM cops). But mostly she includes Guy and Hadas - two who are from the sham and Salta of "Come Eat With Me", and from now on it's worth securing their place in a special All-Stars episode. She does not care) they are a masterpiece of misanthropy, sarcasm and healthy condescension, these are two addicted viewers of the show who fulfilled a dream, and every moment of theirs on screen is a great pleasure. If

it was not yet clear, the fifth season of "Let's Eat With Me" is probably the most Fun on screen and here's her "secret" recipe: a dash of intelligence, a pinch of emotion and a handful of self-humor.
