The scene was filmed and the video posted on Facebook. An investigation has been opened.

Like some environmental activists, the yellow vests have made this gesture one of their signatures.

As they had done several times over the past three years, they attacked a portrait of Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, in the walls of the town hall of Besançon (Doubs) where they had succeeded in to enter.

As we can see in a video published in a Facebook group of yellow vests, one of them took down the portrait of the President of the Republic before replacing it with a QR code in the form of a middle finger.

The man, who claims himself as a Yellow Vest, then exited the building to tear up the portrait and take it to security guards at the courthouse, next to City Hall.

The city of Besançon said it had filed a complaint, reports France Bleu.

She also specifies "that a new portrait has been set up in a secure room".

The prosecution has also opened an investigation for theft, contempt of person holding public authority, and damage to public property.

He specifies, to our colleagues from the local public radio, that the man is not known to the Besançon police services.

Since 2018, many public buildings have suffered portrait dropouts of Emmanuel Macron throughout France.
