The attitude of a French tourist arouses the anger of the authorities of the seaside resort of Palafrugell, on the Costa Brava (Catalonia).
On a video filmed by passers-by, the driver throws his cigarette butt out the window of his car, registered in Occitania.
A gesture punishable by a fine of 200 euros.
It is all the more badly perceived this summer, at a time when the high temperatures expose the region to a maximum risk of fire.

The video, which has gone viral on social networks, was sent to the Palafrugell police, explains the municipality to France Bleu Roussillon.
Thanks to CCTV cameras, law enforcement was able to identify the car's registration number and the identity of the owner, the radio station reports.
The police are still looking for the perpetrator.
If they find him in Spain, the driver will be fined 200 euros.
Otherwise, he will receive it at home, in France, by post.

On its Twitter account, the municipality of Palafrugell denounces “uncivil” behavior, and thanks the people who denounced the offense.
“In the current context, with the intense heat and high temperatures, we cannot risk suffering a new fire due to the jet of cigarettes from a moving car.
The fine could be 200 euros ”, writes the municipality of Palafrugell.

Because the city does not want to relive the enormous fire of mid-July: it had destroyed 415 hectares of vegetation in the Cap de Creus natural park, a few kilometers from Palafrugell. According to investigators, a cigarette butt had caused the fire to start.
