After a year-long trial, the Giessen Regional Court sentenced seven men to long prison terms for selling large quantities of drugs over the Internet.
The “Chemical Revolution” platform was considered to be one of the largest drug trading centers in the so-called Darknet.
The main defendant is said to be behind bars for more than nine years.
Until the police arrested the perpetrators in May 2019, the court was convinced that they had been involved in drug trafficking for over a year and a half. The prosecution spoke of 130 kilograms of amphetamines, 42 kilograms of cannabis, 17 kilograms of crystalline MDMA, six kilograms of cocaine, one kilogram of heroin and other "psychoactive substances" that had been sold through the online shop. The drugs came from the Netherlands, were transported to various locations across Germany, including Ortenberg in Hesse, and then shipped to customers.
In the trial, the defendants had largely admitted the allegations.
Among other things, for some of them it was about "gang-like illicit trading with narcotics in not small quantities".
The court imposed terms of between two years and eight months and nine years and two months for the main defendant.
