A 32-year-old man, suspected of having stabbed a woman in La Flèche (Sarthe), was indicted and placed under a criminal arrest warrant, the Le Mans public prosecutor's office announced on Saturday.
The victim, in her thirties, was killed by stabbing on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.
"The soldiers of the gendarmerie company of La Flèche (had) been called to intervene at the home of a couple from Bangladesh, who had just been the subject of a violent attack", had indicated the prosecutor of the Republic Delphine Dewailly , Wednesday.
The victim's husband and a man presented as "a friend of the couple" were present when the emergency services and investigators arrived, and were injured, the prosecution said.
"The first investigations and hearings collected led to placing the friend of the couple in police custody" after a surgical operation to which he was the subject, according to the magistrate.
Three children taken to shelter
Ms. Dewailly confirmed "the indictment of the person (Friday) evening of counts of murder and attempted murder", specifying that this indictment "took place in the hospital of Le Mans where he had been taken after slight discomfort during police custody ”.
"He was placed under a criminal committal warrant," added Ms. Dewailly.
Born in Bangladesh, and in a regular situation in the territory, this man "has no criminal record", according to the prosecutor.
The autopsy carried out on the body of the deceased woman, born in Bangladesh in 1988, concluded "a death caused by the numerous stab wounds received in several places of the body", said Thursday Ms. Dewailly.
Three children, two, five and eight years old, had been sheltered with a neighbor by the spouse of the woman and then entrusted to the services of social assistance to children, according to the prosecution.
"The reason for the dispute remains to be clarified, in particular by the collection of statements from the husband," said the magistrate on Thursday.
