The Coutances (Manche) prosecutor's office on Saturday opened a judicial investigation for "voluntary homicide" after the murder of a man in Saint-Lô, implicating a woman who was to be presented to a judge in the evening, announced the public prosecutor Cyril Lacombe.
A 35-year-old man was found dead on the night of Thursday to Friday in a hall of an apartment building on rue des Plants in Saint-Lô, killed by several stab wounds during a brawl over alcohol.
“The Saint-Lô police station and the firefighters were alerted around midnight of a brawl over alcohol that had just taken place in a building.
On their arrival, the victim was immediately taken care of by the firefighters but she died quickly as a result of her injuries, ”said the Coutances prosecutor's office.
Judicial information for intentional homicide
A 49-year-old woman, suspected of being the perpetrator, was arrested in the wake, said a police source.
The magistrate confirmed that at the end of her police custody, this woman "born in 1972" was to be referred to the Coutances public prosecutor's office at the end of the afternoon "with a view to her presentation before an examining magistrate ".
"The accused person will appear (Saturday) in the early evening before an investigating magistrate with a view to his indictment," said Maître Lacombe.
This person is "known to the police and justice for various offenses, road for insult and violence," he said.
The prosecutor also indicated that "the Coutances public prosecutor's office is today opening a judicial investigation with the criminal department of the Coutances judicial court for acts of intentional homicide committed in Saint-Lô on the night of August 5 to 6".
The prosecutor did not wish to specify on Saturday the circumstances of the murder, nor the relationship that the accused woman had with the victim.
He indicates that an "additional communication on the follow-up to the procedure" will be broadcast on Sunday.
