Internet service across the country suffered
a sharp drop this Saturday
afternoon, affecting a huge number of websites and platforms such as Netflix, Twitter and Amazon.
As explained by
Clarín
, it was due to "failures in the connectivity provided by international suppliers to companies and suppliers throughout the country."
Although the problem is not completely resolved, the service has been restored and is already working better.
The first thing users detected was a drop in web pages.
Then, on social networks like Twitter, which did not load.
And
several problems began to be concatenated in applications
: Twitch, Steam, Discord, Netflix, Zoom and Spotify and chat services such as Telegram.
WhatsApp, on the other hand, survived and did not go down.
Internet providers came out to explain.
From Movistar they reported that the problems began at 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, throughout the national territory.
"It is a massive failure and work is being done
to reestablish connectivity
as soon as possible", explained from Fibertel.
In fact, the website DownDetector, which records connection system failures from around the world, recorded
a peak of incidents
on almost all services:
The fall in Argentina.

), only to later realize that it was a problem of international scope regarding how connectivity "enters" in Argentina.

Thousands of internet pages around the world went down last Thursday, July 22, causing a web blackout not only in our country but throughout the world.
It was a problem due to a failure of Akamai
, one of the largest website redirection services.
Akamai is a content distribution service: it puts servers around the world so that corporate content can access local versions at a higher speed.
Apparently, the company experienced problems with its DNS servers, which affected almost 30 thousand websites around the world, from Argentine media to large online sales platforms, banks, video games,
mobile applications and other devices connected to the Internet.
Connectivity problems often have to do with international cables, which travel along the bottom of the sea.
More information is expected from ENACOM on what happened in Argentina this Saturday afternoon.
