  • Over 202 million cases worldwide

More than 202 million cases have been recorded worldwide since the end of 2019 and the pandemic has killed at least 4.28 million, according to a count made on Sunday by AFP from official reports.

The United States is the country with the most deaths (616,828 according to the last report on Sunday), ahead of Brazil (563,151 as of Sunday), India (427,862), Mexico (244,248) and Peru ( 196,873).

The World Health Organization estimates, taking into account the excess mortality directly and indirectly linked to Covid-19, that the toll of the pandemic could be two to three times higher than that officially established.
