The vaccination rate for adults could rise to over 80 percent

7:28 a.m.:

According to a survey, the proportion of adults fully vaccinated against Corona in Germany could rise to more than 80 percent. In the representative survey conducted by the YouGov opinion research institute on behalf of the dpa news agency, 75 percent said they had already been vaccinated at least once. Another 6 percent said they would still like to be vaccinated - together that's 81 percent. In May, this rate was only 74 percent in a comparable survey. Shortly before the start of the vaccination campaign in December 2020, only 65 percent had decided to vaccinate.

In the current survey, only 13 percent said they did not want to be vaccinated - in May it was 15 percent.

Six percent have not yet made a decision.

According to official figures, 63.1 percent of the total population has been vaccinated at least once.

Prime Minister Schwesig rules out another corona lockdown

00:05:

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) rules out another lockdown in the corona pandemic. "Everything that is open must remain open," she told the "Bild am Sonntag". She is confident "that we can get through the autumn and winter well with vaccinations and tests." In order for Germany to survive a fourth wave well, the country needs more vaccinations. Schwesig is therefore planning a new vaccination campaign in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is demanding greater commitment from Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU).

"There is still a large group that is hesitating and waiting," said Schwesig.

Around 40 percent of 18 to 59 year olds have not yet been vaccinated.

"The state government will therefore write to everyone in this age group and once again point out the vaccination recommendation."
