Avishai Ben-Haim's repulsive licking article about David Amsalem should have been thrown in the bin and ended in a reprimand

Last week, the board of directors of Network 13 announced that Aviram Elad has been appointed CEO of the company's news company.

This instability of a major media outlet is a matter of concern in a life-altering democracy.

It is in the public interest that the gatekeepers in the major news outlets be of high quality, strong and reliable.

After watching the main edition of News 13 last night, it seems that Aviram still has a lot of work ahead of him.

It's not that there are perfect new editions in Israel, far from it, but it seems that Network 13 lost the brakes on the way to the bottom. Somewhere there, at the bottom of the bottom, if you scrape the promotional moss and marketing filth well, you will find Dr. Avishai Ben - Haim's certified licking article about MK Dudi Amsalem. This is an "interview" that ends with the interviewer enthusiastically kissing the interviewee's hand. Try to delve into the depths of your consciousness in search of a journalist who kisses the hand of a politician in a democratic state. In other words: this is journalistic waste. An article that was supposed to hide and win the journalist who wasted time on her a reprimand call. Network 13 of course treated it like a new shaky investigation by Woodward and Bernstein and promoted it by all possible means.

It is important to mention: it is okay for the new editions to also have light and positive items.

Not every article should be sleep-disturbing or thought-provoking.

But what was broadcast last night in the edition does not belong at all to the news genre but to the genre of science fiction.

In every article by Menachem Horowitz tasting yogurt, there is more journalistic value than the disgrace that was pumped up on the Internet yesterday.

At first it did feel like another invited PR reporter of a public figure seeking to rebrand himself, but it soon became clear that the interviewee was merely in Ben - Haim's play. The decoration the doctor used to decorate his dish. The main course, as usual with ABH, was his theory of the first and second Israel.

As always, this dish was not fit for human consumption.

This is the case, for example, when the article presents Amsalem's the "revolutionary social sub-attitude towards the perpetrators of inequality in Israel." In the monologue, which somehow consists of several different passages, Amsalem claims that "in the State of Israel there are 70 government companies… run by the directors. They keep the roles for their children." Ben-Haim helps Amsalem sharpen the point and tells him: "So they have created criteria that allow only them and their sons and daughters to be on the boards." In response, it is not clear whether Ben-Haim's claim was made, Amsalem says that there is "a team from which only one can be taken, so in fact almost no one can be, only those who live in Tel Aviv."

The fact that Ben-Haim, a journalist, simply recites and echoes Amsalem's claims without asking any questions, is quite disturbing.

The fact that there is a board of directors in Israel is of course correct, and it is possible to argue about the effectiveness of the method and that it excludes various groups in the population (and on the other hand guarantees, for example, equal representation for women), but claim that these are inherited positions?

This is the stage where the journalist is supposed to make it difficult for the interviewee, not to pick him up for Pike News.

For example, Ben-Haim could have reminded Amsalem that the reform under which the board of directors was established took place during Netanyahu's rule.

Even the conquering gem was destroyed.

Amsalem (Photo: Screenshot, News 13)

Amsalem spices up the harsh claims with a good example from life: headed by the agricultural youth village "Mikve Israel", it is better for a mother of children who grew up in a boarding school, than "some accountant who earns NIS 70,000 a month." What does the average viewer learn from this? Mikveh Israel is headed by a cold-hearted accountant who does not understand education and earns a lot of money thanks to being part of "Iza Paul" elected by the heads of the Tel Aviv board of directors. The truth is a little different, and no one knows it better than Amsalem himself. The reason is simple: Amsalem is the one who signed the letter of appointment of Mikveh Israel CEO Sarit Goldstein. The above is not to blame Goldstein or her appointment, but anyone who watched the article yesterday might have mistakenly thought that she is an accountant who earns NIS 70,000 a month (and Ashkenazi, of course,If you did not understand what Amsalem means when he says "live in Tel Aviv").

But the facts will not prevent Avishai Ben-Haim from constructing a good story about discrimination and inequality and some imaginary hatred of invisible hegemony against the frequent traveler Benjamin Netanyahu.

The article was edited in such a trending way that even the conquering charm that undoubtedly exists in MK Amsalem Ben-Haim managed to destroy when he tried to put his theory on him.

This was especially noticeable in the friendly conversation between MK Galit Distel Atbrian and Ben-Haim, who explain to each other how genius Amsalem is, while watching from the sidelines like an embarrassed Bar Mitzvah boy who is forced to listen to his parents' exaggerated blessings.

Ended with a kiss.

MK Amsalem's white bitch is very cute, his friends are seen on the kippak and the close-ups on his fried eggplant have managed to convey divine scents through the screen. It's easy to believe it's fun to sit in Amsalem's 'tavern' on Friday, drop a glass of arak and hear some jokes. It is possible to connect with such a public figure easily, even without the help of alternative facts. You don't really have to come up with a complete thesis to justify Amsalem's fondness for casual wear. His right to wear whatever he wants, the messengers are part of his brand. The attempt to explain his fondness for t-shirts by the fact that his father used to go in formal attire to work in cleaning does not really hold water. To his credit, Amsalem does not claim this at all. Again this is Avishai Ben Haim trying to fit his theories about Amsalem's childhood stories, from which one can certainly understand a lot about difficult times in the country’s history. And if so, should it not be the other way around, and should Amsalem go to work in meticulous attire as he learned from his father?

In the pike world where Ben-Haim's theory holds, everything can be said, and Amsalem understood this quite quickly and flowed with his interviewer as no journalist has ever allowed him before.

And so we discovered that Naftali Bennett is the "left" that overthrew Netanyahu, people hate Netanyahu because of people like Dudi Amsalem, and the protest against Netanyahu (which in reality ended in June with the swearing in of the new government) has nothing to do with Netanyahu's criminal cases.

By the way, in this imaginary world it is possible to compare Netanyahu and Begin without the latter turning over in the grave.

He used to be an excellent journalist.

Ben Haim (Photo: Screenshot, News 13)

We have become accustomed to the fact that Avishai Ben-Haim, in the not-too-distant past an excellent journalist, continues to take a central stage in front of hundreds of thousands of Israelis in order to spread his racist theory under some brilliant academic crackdown. But the fact that we are used to seeing this discourse go beyond its Twitter boundaries into a major news release does not make it any less sickening. The truth is, it was hard to miss Udi Segal's inconvenience before presenting the article, which was accompanied by a very atypical stutter.

Conversations with journalists on the channel indicate that the disgust with Ben-Haim's appearances in the edition has become a kind of consensus among his fellow members of the system, but the reason that his power in the channel is only growing is obvious. These are, in the modest numbers of Channel 13, a golden egg. The channel bleeds ratings, its credibility dives daily and even successful brands like “Big Brother” fail to bounce off the edition numbers. Within this reality, a viral phenomenon like Avishai Ben-Haim is in itself a television achievement. As mentioned, the new CEO of News 13 has a lot of work ahead of him.
