For all the right reasons, Shay Hambar must win this season of "The Next Star"
There are singers who are more talented perhaps, or more original, or those who swim more in the pop of 2021 - but Shai Hambar is much more cooked than the rest.

In the production of "The Next Star" they found a new gimmick this time: a surprise duet. As is the way with the gimmicks in "The Next Star", it became the main topic of conversation for the production and the judges throughout the episode, including absurd and worthless "Singer in the Mask" style, and what's even more ridiculous: at the beginning of the performance a huge anonymous singer appeared on the screens Far from anything else, that stole the attention - you guessed it - from the contestants who tried to sing. The huge figure above the little contestants has become the creators: the guest singer is the one who matters, the contestant is the one who becomes anonymous, and in terms of the concentration of the show and the viewers - the top gimmick on the song.
But "The Next Star" does not need anonymous singers to save her from herself.
She has one contestant, cooked, who is supposed to and should take the million - Shai Hambar.
This is her season.
She was marked in the first programs, and since then it only becomes clear: there is no one else around who has so many tools like her.

It has a cohesive musical identity but also versatility; She writes well, in an authentic and non-generic way, about her experiences; She understands her place on stage, not embarrassed by the camera. In these respects, she is far more prepared than any other talent on a career show - perhaps not as Israel's next pop star, but certainly as a legitimate mainstream creator on the soft rock arc and personal ballads.
In the post-Eurovision era, the identity of the winner this season will make clear where the format faces.
If indeed, as the judges and production stated, the search this time is for an artist who can hold a career and not for a character who can flourish at an international pop event - the choice of Hamber will also send a significant message that the industry now needs not another outstanding cabrist but new original writers. A social commitment to the burning issues of the moment - as she demonstrated when she sang "Once the Night" at the audition.
For all these reasons, it should be her, with all due respect to the rest of the bunch.
