Logistics and technology companies have long been improving telemetry devices so that fleets are increasingly efficient, and the business more profitable.
However, there has been a huge leap since they began to be tested with autonomous driving systems.
And what seemed distant is now a reality, because
there are already trucks that drive themselves
.
And the result is amazing, and also somewhat controversial because it is proven that they can travel distances in less time than a driver could do.
An example that sums it up is the autonomous truck that traveled almost 2,000 kilometers in 14 hours.
Now a new case was known in China, but with the big difference that this autonomous truck went completely alone,
without even a backup driver in case of emergency.
The test was conducted with the authorization of the Chinese government, on a 4-lane public highway.

FAW
brand truck
was tested on one of the highways that run along the Yangtze River Delta, the longest in China, with a
Level 4
autonomous driving system
(the maximum is 5, but it has not yet been approved) developed by the American company Plus.
The start-up, based in Silicon Valley (California) created
PlusDrive
, so that large vehicles can carry out cargo transport on their own, without
any type of remote control or human intervention
.
According to the company, PlusDrive can be a standard configuration for new heavy trucks or installed in existing trucks with the aim of making long-distance transport safer, more efficient and "more comfortable".
It is the first time that an autonomous vehicle has conducted a test on public roads without a backup driver on board.
It is worth noting that in 2019, the American Plus and the Chinese FAW established an
alliance
to manufacture in series, starting this year, the autonomous trucks FAW J7 L3 to travel through the roads and highways that country.
This is the first time that an automotive terminal has put an autonomous truck on public roads without a backup driver on board.
