In 1973 the duo disbanded but reunited again in 1983, a decade later, when at the same time they released a new album which was produced in collaboration with Paul McCartney and Dave Edmonds, among others.
Over the years the Averley brothers have managed to bring a total of 26 hits to the Billboard Top 40 chart.
The Averley brothers continued to perform regularly as a duo all over the world until Philip's death in January 2014, as a result of a complication of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, caused by heavy smoking.
