Dear readers,
finally we have a G-discussion again.
This time not via the 5G cellular standard, which conspiracy theorists believe would radiate humanity.
But via 2G - the new gold standard for corona loosening, made in Hamburg.
There, the 2G model was approved by the Senate this week.
If organizers and operators of restaurants or bars decide in the future to only allow those who have recovered or who have been twice vaccinated, they and their guests will be greatly relieved.
There is no curfew and the restrictions on the maximum number of guests are relaxed.
On the other hand, those who continue to use the 3G model and let in unvaccinated people who have been tested have to adhere to the hard rules.
Yes, you got that right: That comes pretty close to the so-called vaccination requirement through the back door.
An absurdity?
Not if you look at the numbers that justified the concept.
The Hanseatic city got slightly tangled in those, as my colleague Nina Weber has calculated in this article.
But the trend is right: the incidences are significantly lower among the vaccinated than among the unvaccinated.
In addition, they almost always have a mild course.
And if Corona is nothing more than a cold for you in the future - why should you impose further restrictions on you in the future?

Pupils (nationwide) have significantly fewer options than the restaurateurs in Hamburg.
