This new death swells an already high figure.
A 75-year-old woman died on Thursday evening in Toulouse after being accidentally hit by a 25-year-old biker, the prosecution and police told AFP.
The victim was on a pedestrian crossing around 9 pm when she was struck by a motorbike "moving at high speed", said the deputy prosecutor of Toulouse, Alix-Marie Cabot-Chaumeton.
The septuagenarian died "despite the rapid arrival of help," she said.
She was in cardiopulmonary arrest when they went there, specifies La Dépêche.
The rider in the "rear wheel"
"It is established that the rider was doing a
rear wheel
with his motorcycle," she added.
Several residents said the suspect was in the middle of a wild rodeo, according to the regional daily, which the prosecution and the police confirmed to AFP.
The motorcyclist was taken into custody for "aggravated manslaughter", according to the prosecution.
According to La Dépêche, this is the forty-ninth death on the roads of Haute-Garonne since the start of the year. Seven have taken place since August 18 alone. Two days earlier, a mother and daughter were killed in the department in a car accident involving a driver without a driver's license.
