For 6 out of 10 Italians, the next car could be a plug-in hybrid.

To say it, the annual Automotive Customer Study of Quintegia, which sees the ranking by engines occupied in 3 of the first 4 positions by the new power supplies, with petrol acting as a bulwark on the second step for traditional ones, followed by non-electric charging hybrids. and full electric.

According to an extract from the survey by the Treviso-based research and consultancy company, which involved almost 3700 Italian motorists and which will be presented during the 19th edition of Automotive Dealer Day (Veronafiere, 14-15-16 September), 1 interviewee out of 2 still takes in consideration of gasoline, while those who would buy a non-plug-in hybrid represent 46%, a power supply that already proves to be the second most chosen solution by Italians in the first 8 months of the year with a market share of about 28 %. One step from the podium is the electric, which represents a possibility for 43% of Italians, up from 37% last year.

"We are experiencing a phase of market evolution that sees consumers approaching new technologies with a pragmatic and experimental approach - explains Tommaso Bortolomiol, partner and vice president of Corporate & Industry Relations at Quintegia -.

In this context, the hybrid, which apparently it may seem like a non-choice, in reality it presents itself as the most natural and accessible transitory formula towards the electric, a leap into the future anchored to the lifesaver of traditional power supplies ".

It is no coincidence, in fact, that the share of those interested in full electric goes up to 70% among those who already drive a hybrid car.

As evidence of the gradualness of the process of winning consumer confidence, the survey also notes the current trend of considering the electric car as a secondary car: 65% of e-car owners declare that they would not have made the purchase if it had been the only car in the family park.
